Item review tasks

Click the Tasks tab at the top of the Surpass home screen.
Your assigned task(s) display on the left. Click a task to select it.
If the Attachments field displays a number, click the Download Attachments button to save any files your editor has provided to assist with your task. Attachments are saved to your computer's Downloads folder in a single .zip file.
If your assigned task no longer appears in the task list, you may have clicked Complete Task before completing your task. Click here to find your lost task.

Open and navigate task
Before opening your task, make sure you download any attachments.
Click the Open Task button.

A numbered list of items in your task displays along the left side.

To navigate through items, click the item number or use the Previous and Next buttons at the bottom right.

Use the Flag button to mark items that need further attention. Flagging is visible to both you and your Editor. You can unflag
items if attention is no longer needed.

Click the Return to Tasks link at the top left of the screen to exit your task at any time.
You can also use Go to item to immediately open a specific item.
You can return to any incomplete task later from the main Tasks screen.
Review and edit items
Items display in Preview mode without any editing options.

Upon first opening the task, items display in read-only Preview mode. Click the icons on the right to view additional item information.
Item Settings: Displays the item version, correct answer, and other general information.
Tags: Displays tags assigned to the item.
Committee Info/Tag Collections: Any tag collections selected during task setup display at the bottom of the screen.
Enemies: Displays enemies associated with the item.
Citations: Displays any item citations/references.
Comments: Displays any public comments for the item.
Candidate Feedback: Opens the Candidate Feedback text editor.

Click the Edit Item button at the bottom of the screen to open the item in editing mode.

Click the Comments button to add any review comments for any item.

If editing is enabled, you can make changes to item text, vignettes, answer option sets, media, and other elements.

For detailed information on item editing, click the links below and keep the tabs open for reference as you work:
- Click Save to commit your item comments and revisions. You can return to any saved item and make further changes at a later time.
- If your editor has instructed you to do so, click theSubmit Item button at the top of the review window when you have finished making all changes. Otherwise, skip this step. A checkmark displays for the submitted item and you advance to the next item in the list.

Your review task uses a private version of the item for you to make changes and comments. Changes and comments will only be visible to you and your Editor.
If your Editor enabled Track Changes for your task, your edits are highlighted as you work.

To hide tracked changes and view the original text, open the Advanced menu and click Hide Track Changes.
Editing view persists to subsequent list items. Click the X next to the Save button if you'd like to return to preview mode. Saved edits are visible in preview mode.

If you need to make further edits to a submitted item, select the item from the list and click the Revoke Item button. You can then continue to comment and edit, then resubmit when complete.
Complete the task
Before completing a task, make sure you have submitted ALL items.
- Close the task to return to the main Tasks screen.
- Click the Complete Task button.

Your completed task will no longer appear on the Tasks screen. If you need to retrieve and reopen your task, click here for instructions.
